On September 3, the press delegation of the 'Keeping the World Moving' converged media campaign under the Belt and Road Initiative visited Pingli and experienced the intangible cultural heritage floating lacquer technique at the Chinese Lacquer Museum in Longtou Village.

Key points of the report

  • In the Longtou Guoqi culture exhibition hall, the delegation tried the intangible cultural heritage floating lacquer technique: dipping the lacquer, letting it spread and swirl on the water surface, and gently pressing the fan onto it — a floating lacquer fan is thus made;
  • Relying on state-owned forest farms, Pingli County has advanced the development of a national forest germplasm resource bank for lacquer trees, systematically protecting and breeding three superior local varieties — Dahongpao, Gaobachi and Jinzhouhong;
  • Cultivated and expanded 10 seedling business entities, built more than 400 mu of standardized seedling bases, and established a guaranteed minimum-price purchase mechanism for high-quality lacquer seedlings;
  • Using leading enterprises to drive the upgrading of the entire industry chain, and developing Shaanxi Longtou Guoqi Cultural Industry Co., Ltd. into a municipal-level demonstration base for the forestry industry;
  • In 2025, the company processed more than 200 tons of raw lacquer and achieved an output value of over 50 million yuan, directly bringing stable income growth to 300 lacquer farming households across the county.

Echoes of the summit in Hong Kong, China

Shortly after the delegation's visit to Pingli, the Zhengdaming team traveled to Hong Kong, China to attend the 11th Belt and Road Summit, bringing Chinese lacquer from the Qinba mountains to an international business matchmaking event — from deep-mountain lacquer groves to the international stage, this chain was completed end to end for the first time in the autumn of 2026.
