Brand Story
The memory of a time-honored brand, the transmission of a craft, an Eastern etiquette.
The name Niuwang Guoqi holds the memory of a time-honored brand. The old Niuwang Raw Lacquer trading house once stood among the lacquer market streets of the Qinba mountains — level scales, full measures, genuine lacquer: the rules kept by generations of lacquer merchants, and the rules Niuwang Guoqi still keeps today.
Today, this craft is listed under the name 'Niuwang Raw Lacquer Lacquering Techniques' in the provincial intangible cultural heritage list. Building on this foundation, Niuwang Guoqi works with the Niuwang Raw Lacquer Farmers Professional Cooperative and the Niuwang Raw Lacquer Research Institute to bring planting, technique and R&D together as one.
In the Niuwang Raw Lacquer ICH Exhibition Hall, tapping knives, lacquer sieves and lacquering benches are open to the public — study tour courses let visitors experience the whole process from lacquer tree to finished object with their own hands. Chinese lacquer culture is no longer an exhibit behind glass, but living memory that can be seen, learned and passed on by hand.
Niuwang Guoqi focuses on official gifting, cultural collections, ICH study tours and lacquer tapping experiences — so that Chinese lacquer culture is more than display, but a cause the next generation can take over.
Transmission means letting the next pair of hands take over the warmth of the previous pair.
