Brand Story
Follow the solar terms through the year, and bring Chinese lacquer back into everyday life.
'Suishiji' takes its name from 'suishi' — the wisdom by which the ancients arranged farming and daily life according to the solar terms. Growth in spring, maturing in summer, harvest in autumn, storage in winter: time flows through the twenty-four marks, and also through the waiting of lacquer curing.
The making of a lacquer object is much like the solar terms: one coat of lacquer, several days of curing in a humid chamber — it cannot be hurried, nor delayed. Suishiji turns this Eastern philosophy of 'living with time' into objects that can be worn, handled and used every day.
From a pair of Chinese lacquer earrings to a lacquer fan, from solar-term gift boxes to custom gifting, Suishiji engages a material of a thousand years with youthful design, releasing Chinese lacquer from the museum label and returning it to people's wrists, desks and daily lives.
The solar terms do not age; they simply move into life in a new way.
